Parksville - Canada’s Riviera
Since its establishment in 1910 Parksville has since become one of Canada’s most popular destinations for families. What makes it so desirable?
All of the amazing stretches of sandy beaches! There is a reason that Parksville is known as Canada’s Riviera. Few beaches in the world compare to the kilometers of near perfect sandy beaches in Parksville. At low tide Parksville Beach stretches out a kilometre into the Strait of Georgia revealing a sandy playground.
Long, hot, sunny days where the water temperatures can be as high as 20 degrees Celsius in the shallows! These warm, flat beaches are safe for the whole family even at high tide. There is also plenty of space for jogging, beach volleyball, beach yoga, sunbathing, sandcastle building and more! The many tidal pools are brimming with sea stars, crabs and sand dollars.
Along the beaches of Parksville you can also enjoy many community amenities such as a variety of parks and playgrounds. Stroll along the waterfront boardwalk and take in the sights!
Rathtrevor provincial park is another wonderful beach a short distance from Parksville with long stretches of sandy beach surrounded by woodland and oceanfront trails. When planning any sort of water activity at Rathtrevor, be sure to check a tide chart beforehand to ensure you time your excursion appropriately!
